History of the Martinerhof - A hotel in South Tyrol
A 3-star hotel, pizzeria and brewery in the Val Passiria
From a lumber mill to the first village hotel up to a brewery-experience Hotel! The Martinerhof’s history has been filled with change and progress. This is how the Brauhotel (brewery Hotel) in San Martino in the South Tyrolean Val Passiria developed.
The grandfather of the current hotel keepers, Sonja Fontana and Christof Schweigl, Wendelin Pichler had run a lumber mill with his sons since 1925 on the area of what is today the Martinerhof. After many and successful years of business, his son Wendl knocked down the lumber mill in 1978 and opened a Hotel. It was the first modern Hotel in the town of St. Martin in the South Tyrolean Val Passiria.
Since 2007, the hotel has been owned by the Fontana and Schweigl families, who have several years experience in gastronomy. They ran the first pizzeria in the Val Passiria for 20 years and afterwards converted it into the first guest-house-brewery in the Val Passiria - the Brückenwirt with the associated Hölle Pub. With the Martinerhof, the Fontana and Schweigl families have realised a completely independent vision. A brewery with a hotel, pizzeria and in-house brewery was born.
Today, fun and social entertainment is central to the hosts’ endeavours. Uncountable events with music or tradition wow you as well as the mix of holiday guests and locals in the restaurant. Experience the unique atmosphere for yourself - with a holiday in South Tyrol.
