Winter hiking routes in the Val Passiria
Snowshoeing and winter hiking in South Tyrol is a special natural experience in its purest form: enjoy the calm of the unspoiled and snow-covered winter landscape of South Tyrol as well as the deep stillness of the dormant mountains in the Val Passiria. Numerous winter hiking routes begin near to the Brauhotel Martinerhof which call you to go winter hiking in the South Tyrolean mountains. The Val Passiria tourism association regularly organises led snowshoe and winter hikes in South Tyrol which lead you into the Lazinsertal or up to the Egger-Grub-Alm!
Tips for winter hikes in South Tyrol:
Pfelders - Faltschnalalm (approx. 2 - 3 hrs): from the large car park in Pfelders - chairlift or route Nr. 5a up to the Grünbodenhütte (2,000m) - ascend on the new Panoramaweg (panorama route) to the Faltschnalalm and descend via the Panoramaweg to Lazins. Return on route Nr. 8 or. Nr. 24 = Meraner Höhenweg (Meran high-alpine route) to Zeppichl/Pfelders. This route is also suitable for toboggans.
Pfelders - Lazinser Tal (approx. 3 hrs): coming form the idyllic township of Pfelders, along route Nr. 8 on the left brookside up to the Lazinsalm (not open during the winter) and back to the Lazinshof (open) and return to Pfelders on the right brookside via Zeppichl. This route is also suitable for toboggans. Torch-lit hikes are offered.
Pfelders - Oberstein
Coming from the large car park in Pfelders, the route leads past the Gasthof Weißen Kreuz further up to the Häuslerhof, shortly afterwards one crosses the Pfelder stream via a bridge, a forest road up to Oberstein draws out on the left side of the valley. This is a glorious sunny hike with a view over the entire Pfelderertal! You need about 1hr for this hike.
Stuls - Egger Grub Alm
Coming from the sunny town of Stuls via route Nr. 15 up to the Egger-Grub-Alm (open all year) and return to Stuls the same way. In around 4hrs, this route leads you through the glorious natural landscape via an 800m altitude difference. The route is also suitable for toboggans.
